PDQOUT

  • Fast reorganisation. Used with Oracle's SQL*Loader, PDQOUT is a much faster alternative to Oracle*Export and Oracle*Import for logical backups, reorganisations or test data update.

  • Extracting through views. PDQOUT provides a fast means to extract a sample of the production data for a test database.

  • Datawarehousing. Pre-consolidate data for loading into a data warehouse by using PDQOUT's ability to extract through views.

  • Export of data to a non-Oracle system. The files PDQOUT generates have a non-proprietary format and can be loaded with any bulk loading utility.

  • Archiving. PDQOUT's ability to download fast to flat files, means that your archived data is now Oracle version and even database vendor independent.

FREE TRIAL & TWO FREE VERSIONS

So that you can see for yourself how PDQOUT can benefit you, Oriole offers a free five day trial of the fully configured product.
For extended trials there are two entirely free versions of PDQOUT. The first will allow you to download tables of up to 100,000 rows and the second which requires a software key will allow you to download tables of up to 250,000 rows. Neither of the free versions has the facility to download through views.

PDQOUT is a fast extract utility for Oracle. It generates everything required to reload data using Oracle's SQL*Loader utility. PDQOUT is a carefully optimised OCI program which extracts data at roughly the same speed as Oracle*Export. It generates both the control information required by SQL*Loader. The data, stored as a flat file, is readable and unCOMPRESSed. Output is very carefully optimised to generate as small a file as possible. Reloading with SQL*Loader can be at dazzling speeds of up to 5 or 6 times faster than using Oracle*Import

SIMULOAD

  • How will increased load affect response times of end-users ?
        (and top management ? ;-)
  • Will you have contention ?
  • Do you need more free lists ?
  • What's the risk of deadlocks ?
  • Could multi-threaded servers bring benefits ?
  • What would be the cost/benefit of indexing this column ?
  • What about asynchronous I/O or increasing the number of
        database writers?
  • SIMULOAD answers these questions

SIMULOAD is a load simulator. It simulates realistic production activity on a test database. Stored procedures which have been identified, typically with ORISNOOP, as the transactions which matter, are run at the frequency you specify.
SIMULOAD can simulate both OLTP and batch programs - and the interactions between the two, with any number of concurrent users. It enables you to predict with confidence, whether your current hardware configuration and programs can serve a larger number of Oracle users and/or processes.

      ORISNOOP

    • Takes you straight to the statements that consume the most resources.
    • Is able to identify statements which only differ by constant values which utilities such as tkprof will miss.
    • EXPLAINs the most significant statements.
    • Analyses indexes to check their relevance.
    • Provides all the information necessary to tune the statements which degrade system throughput.
    • ORISNOOP identifies the most costly SQL statements executing in an Oracle database and provides all the information required to optimise them. It collects all the executed statements and their cost (independent from the instance parameters). ORISNOOP then isolates the statements responsible for the highest resource consumption and provides all the information required for tuning, including:

      • current execution plan
      • available statistics
      • indexes
      • relevance of indexes
      • triggers (for updates/inserts/deletes)
      • text
      • date of last compilation of views involved etc.

The report is generated as an HTML file and data collection (which has a very low overhead) and analysis can be run as separate stages and on different databases (e.g. data can be collected on the production database and analysed on a backup copy of this database).
      ORISNOOP
collects the text of SQL statements from the SGA, as statements only age out of the SGA slowly. It can either snapshot memory, or run for a defined time span only reporting on actually executed statements.

      ALERTHAWK

    • Straightforward, simple to use ALERTHAWK , monitors your databases and identifies potential problems before they happen.
    • ALERTHAWK warns you of a problem before the user calls.
    • With ALERTHAWK it's you not the user who has the facts.
    • ALERTHAWK is an Oracle database monitor. It checks all the databases it finds on the local server and, when unexpected events occur, sends an e-mail to your preset distribution list. ALERTHAWK regularly checks the Oracle processes and the alert log files. Every time the size of the alert log file increases, the new information is scanned. If any error message is identified, any relevant information (possible cause and suggested action) is extracted from the Oracle message files and e-mailed with the error log to the specified distribution list.

          WEBSQL and WEBSQLPLUS

    • Say goodbye to scruffy SQL reports,
    • No need to modify the scripts to add HTML tags.
    • No need to embed the SQL statements in another language such as perl or ASP.
    • WEBSQL (FREE) and WEBSQLPLUS ($30) allow you instantly to web-enable SQL scripts by taking them as input and generating HTML formatted output.

These programs are NOT BROWSER-BASED INTERACTIVE INTERFACES to an Oracle database; they are essentially 'batch' programs, usable inside a CGI script, making it possible for you to rejuvenate all 'legacy' SQL scripts written in your installation over the years.

They allow you instantly to put on the company intranet - or on your internet site - the output from SQL scripts. Since SQL*Plus scripts are simply used as input, any user, with even a little knowledge, can use WebSql or WebSqlPLus to enhance their output.

WEBSQL ignores everything except SELECT statements in .sql scripts. It cannot take command line parameters. WEBSQLPLUS takes parameters, processes all statements and PL/SQL blocks, and makes sense when relevant, of most SQL*Plus formatting commands. It also supports multiple styles.
